FibreGuard +™ Fiberglass Resurfacing Process
Blue Dolphin Pools, Inc., has over 25 years experience in the swimming pool renovation industry. We've spent this time learning, observing and working with others, and over the years we've come up with a systematic process for applying fiberglass to any pool that we believe to be the best in the industry.
The gallery below shows the 15-step process:

The system we've come up with is called FibreGuard + ™. It consists of these fifteen steps:
Drain and secure pool
-
Cut in our patented seal lines along tile lines, lights and fixtures
Power wash pool, cleaning away all traces of algae
Acid wash pool, etching new surface to accept the liquid resin
Rinse pool twice with TSP to clean off the acid wash
Rinse pool clean with cool water
Apply bond coat of virgin (untinted)liquid resin to concrete walls/floor
Apply second coat of virgin liquid resin
Lay sheets of 1oz Owens Corning ™ fiberglass mat on top of wet resin
Apply third coat of liquid resin (white), sandwiching matting in between
Rib-roll resin/mat combination to ensure permanent bonding
Prep seal lines and fill, using Blue Dolphin's patented MFRC2 seal line putty
Grind entire pool surface after to ensure smooth finish with no imperfections
Highlight stairs and swim-outs with Blue Dolphin's custom inlaid tile
Apply final (fourth) coat of white fiberglass resin
Paint Your Pool
Just need a minor facelift? Trying to sell your home?
Painting the surface of your swimming pool is a less expensive alternative to resurfacing with fiberglass. This option is for our customers who do not require more than a 2-3 year product shelf life. Just like painting a house or a fence, the paint will eventually wear off your pool surface, and it will have to be repainted. We recommend the fiberglass system, but also recognize the need to offer another alternative. Painting your pool costs approximately 2/3 less than installing the fiberglass system.

Servicing your pool and spa is more important than most people realize - especially if they've never owned a pool before. So when selecting a pool or spa company, consider the level of service they will offer later.

Try to fill your plaster pool as quickly as possible. If you stop filling and then resume later, the water will leave a ring in the plaster where you stopped.

Never completely drain your fiberglass swimming pool, especially if it is flaking or peeling in places. The pressure from the water on the walls of the pool keeps the fiberglass in place until a contractor can get there to repair it!

Always rinse your water testing materials in the water you are about to test. Using soap or tap water can leave a residue that may interfere with the test.

Always use fresh test strips when Ph testing your water, and take water samples at least 18 inches below the surface.

If you do need to add chemicals, wait to see whether they have the desired effect. Wait 15 minutes for liquid chlorine to circulate (with the pump running) and about 12 hours for the Ph to adjust.

When vacuuming your pool, move at a slow, steady pace. If you move too quickly, the current created by the vacuum head will stir up any dirt on the bottom of the pool.

Write the normal operating pressure directly on the filter with a waterproof marker, so you will never have to second-guess that number.

Leave the pool on the first sound of thunder, and wait 20 minutes after the last sound of thunder to let people back in the pool.
